Kahlenberg, AUSTRIA — The Filipino Visual Artists Association in Austria (FVAA) turned the slopes of Kahlenberg into an open-air studio last weekend, as members gathered for an outdoor painting session led by FVAA chairman Gerry de Guzman.

With panoramic views of Vienna unfolding below, the group set up easels among the gentle rows of Kahlenberg’s vineyards. The scene was a painter’s dream: the vibrant green of the grapevines, the shimmer of the Danube, and the hazy skyline of the Austrian capital in the distance.

Some artists focused on the majestic vineyard itself, capturing the symmetry of its rows under the summer sun. Others chose broader perspectives, portraying Vienna framed by the lush hills. Brushes moved steadily across canvases, translating the crisp morning air and golden light into rich strokes of color.

“This plein air session is about more than painting—it’s about connecting with nature and with each other,” said Mr. de Guzman, who initiated the event to encourage members to explore outdoor techniques. “The beauty of Kahlenberg inspires creativity in a way no studio can match.”

The FVAA, composed of Filipino artists living in Austria, regularly organizes workshops, exhibitions, and cultural events to promote art and strengthen the community. The Kahlenberg session marked one of the group’s most scenic gatherings to date.

Photos from the event were later shared on the Facebook profile of Mr. de Guzman, as well as on the accounts of several FVAA members, extending the breathtaking scenery and artistic spirit to friends and followers worldwide.
